Choice Catering is based in the village of Hesket Newmarket, at the foot of the northern Lakeland fells. I create quality home cooked food using fine local produce from England’s most beautiful landscape. I cater for your every need, from private dinner parties to weddings, christenings to corporate events.
Here in Cumbria, there is great pride in our local produce. Wherever possible I will use fresh, local ingredients to create distinctive flavours, such as Cumberland sausage (all my meat is from Carrock Meats, Dalston), local free range eggs and home grown fruit. All of my food is freshly prepared and cooked on a daily basis, ensuring it reaches you in superb condition.
From a simple buffet lunch, to a formal dinner party, a funeral tea to a children’s birthday, a business function to a special occasion I am committed to giving you a hassle-free memorable meal whenever and wherever. I still supply my popular home baking and delicious desserts too!
March 2024 marks 20 years of running my catering business – amazing!
Back in 2004 I left behind a life of managing hotels and restaurants; it was a big step at the time, but soon “Choice Desserts” was up and running. Supplying cafés, restaurants and farmer’s markets with home baking.
In time the demand for outside catering would see the name change to “Choice Catering”.
Over the years I’ve met so many wonderful people who have welcomed me into their homes, allowed me to be part of important celebrations and have trusted me with their weddings!
Some have become good friends and year-on-year many come back for more. And I can’t forget those folk who supported me through the tough times of COVID, when all my regular work disappeared.
I also owe a lot to those who have worked for me over the years; I couldn’t have done half the things without that loyal bunch to support me, especially Janet who’s still there all these years later. She’s a superstar!
From businesses, like Innovia Films, Nestle, Ullswater Steamers and Honister Slate Mine, to organisations such as The National Trust, Carlisle City Council and Cumbria Health on Call. From groups of friends and families, getting together in beautiful Lake District houses, to Brides and Grooms on their big day. From politicians… and even the (then) future King(!), it’s been a journey of hard graft, dedication and a passion for serving others.
I’ve found myself in teepees, sheep sheds, boat houses, mansions, slate mines, village halls, factories, lake shores, islands, market stalls, boats, hostels and car dealerships… you never know where it will take you next.
So, a big thank you to all my customers past, present and future. My business wouldn’t exist without you.
Finally, not forgetting my loyal right hand man Paul, working behind the scenes. He has had to put up with all of this for all these years!
